  • This profile and recipe was developed on a lever espresso machine in true Neapolitan fashion (Argos Espresso Machine) – so should be taken as a starting point, and not an absolute as different machines extract in different ways.

  • The basket for this espresso recipe are 14 gram waisted/tapered baskets like the Espresso Parts HQ 14g. Any other baskets like VST or IMS work too.

I ordered 4 different bags of Saka to test and this was the first one I opened. I’m just now at the end of the bag so I have a pretty good view on this coffee. I absolutely love it! And still have 3 bags to test. But this one specifically is interesting because there is absolutely no bitterness to it. The first thing putting me off with any coffee is bitterness but at the same time I like my coffee to taste like real coffee, not a fan of specialty coffee (although my husband is). I can drink Gran Bar as an americano as well as in a cappuccino. The crema is absolutely gorgeous too. I use a Cafelat Robot for my coffee and it comes out superb. Rich, aromatic taste, no bitterness, just pure bliss. Berry is also very nice and helpful. Even if I am the only person in the household drinking Saka coffee, I will repurchase.

Absolutely loving Saka Gran Bar! A really good espresso—full-bodied with a rich, lingering taste that instantly takes me back to my Italian vacation. Smooth, aromatic, and simply delightful.
